Therapy with you in mind
We search for therapy when we are in-between, when we find ourselves stuck in liminal space between where we came from and where we want to be.
Couples Therapy
Within the context of couples therapy, I view the relationship as a cycle that exists between the individuals, with each partner playing a role to uphold it. My goal is to assist my clients in rewiring their relationship to create a positive cycle—a relationship in which each person feels heard and finds growth. I work to give my clients the tools to identify their needs and effectively communicate those needs to their partners. I aim to provide a space where couples can create stronger partnerships, integrating a deeper understanding of themselves in supportive relationships.
Life Transitions
I find many clients, couples & individuals, seek therapy during life transitions. My hope is to help clients find strength and growth in change that can otherwise be daunting. This could be any impactful life change—a new relationship status, parenthood, a career change, coping with aging parents, retirement. I believe, in these “in-between” moments, when we have already opened ourselves up to change therapy can be incredibly impactful. I seek to help individuals & couples integrate new and challenging circumstances into their lives, creating space for them to thrive.
Therapy Approach
I utilize multiple treatment modalities to create a unique and tailored therapy experience for each client. Beyond my degree, I have additional training in Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) through an EFT Externship. My preference for EFT is based in its versatility for both couples & individuals and its focus on attachment & communication through an evidence based approach. I also utilize elements from Narrative Therapy, Gottman Method, & other relationally based treatment modalities to craft a client centered approach.
My name is Caroline Allison (she/her) and I'm a licensed marriage & family therapy associate in Greenville, SC. I work with couples and individuals who are seeking therapy to make positive changes in their lives and relationships.
Equity Statement
My goal is to create a brave space for everyone, including those who have identities and presentations that differ from my own. I identify as a white, cisgender, heteronormative female. So, if you are reading this statement and you identify as a BIPOC (black, indigenous, person of color), as LGBTQIA+, a polyamorous person or couple, a person with a disability, or otherwise identify differently than me, please know that I am constantly working to understand my privilege, acknowledge my biases, and call upon colleagues and experts to educate myself in areas and experiences I lack. Both personally and professionally, I strive to do better (and know there is always more to learn) as an ally and an anti-racist.
If you identify differently than me and want to discuss how I can best serve you, please reach out. If I am not a good fit, I will work to refer you to someone that best fits your needs. Thank you for being here.
